The Nuts and Bolts of HITECH HIPAA--Putting Privacy into Practice

An overview of the HIPAA Final Omnibus Rule implementing changes required under the HITECH Act will be discussed. The presentation will focus on the recent changes required for HIPAA compliance as result of the Final Rules, including changes that make law firms directly responsible under the Privacy and Security Rules as well as modifications to the definition of Breach under HIPAA. The presentation will provide a number of real and hypothetical examples to test the audiences HIPAA/HITECH knowledge. The overall presentation will address important risks for the health care practitioner as well as for lawyers and law firms generally.

Stark/Fraud and Abuse Update and Some Related Physician Integration Issues
